Mile High on the Cheap

BOOM! BANG! CHEAP! Fourth of July festivities abound in the metro Denver/Boulder area. We’ve found most of the no-cost and low-cost festivals, fireworks and parades to keep the family entertained. Events are listed alphabetically for easier review. We expect to add more events, as they’re announced — so check back often.

In case of bad weather or fire bans, some fireworks shows may be cancelled. However, celebrations usually go on as planned. Check back here and on event websites for updated information.

July celebrates America’s 250th, but also brings FREE fun across the Mile High City, thanks to the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District. As always, there’s so much to explore and experience in Denver on the cheap, thanks to our city’s generous FREE Days at museums and attractions. It’s worth getting up early on the mornings of Friday, Saturday & Sunday, July 10 to 12, 2026, for the colorful hot air balloon launch that highlights the annual Erie Hot Air Balloon Festival. The balloons take off at at 6 a.m. each morning (weather permitting) in the open field across from Erie High School, on the northwest corner of County Road 5 and Colliers Parkway. [Read More…]

On of the largest bell towers in the country is located on the University of Denver campus. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, listen to guest artist Carol Jickling Lens play the Williams Carillon from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The concert is FREE, open to all and held regardless of weather.
