Leave it to Dolly Parton to come up with a creative way for preschool children to bond with books. Imagination Library is a program that gifts children with one age-appropriate book every month. The books are mailed directly to the child to create a sense of excitement. Typically a nonprofit organization or a school district partner with the Dollywood Foundation to run a program. Parents register their children (birth through age four) and then the FREE books start arriving, once a month until the child turns five. To date, there are 22 participating communities in Colorado. In our area, you will find programs in Westminster, Boulder & Broomfield Counties, Evergreen and Loveland. Word is more programs will be coming (hopefully soon) to the Denver metro area. If you live in one of the communities listed above and want to enroll or just want to learn more, go here and then click on Find My Program. Thanks to Julia for bringing this wonderful program to our attention.
