The Metropolitan Opera’s 2016 season of The Met: Live in HD opens with Puccini’s Madama Butterfly on Saturday, April 2 at select Denver cinemas. This series brings live performances of the world’s best operas into local movie theaters. Anthony Minghella’s breathtaking production has thrilled audiences ever since its premiere in 2006. One of the world’s foremost Butterflys, soprano Kristine Opolais, takes on the title role, and Roberto Alagna sings Pinkerton, the naval officer who breaks Butterfly’s heart. The show starts at 10:55 a.m. and runs about 4 hours. You can win a ticket to see the show. These are guaranteed seats.
