Safeway is making major changes to its Rewards Program. Now, you can choose to use points for fuel or grocery discounts, including FREE items. The fuel side stays the same, save 10¢ per gallon gas for every 100 points earned — up to $1.
Just remember, 100 points is now equal to 1 Reward. And 1 Reward is equal to 10¢ off per gallon of gas. For $1 off per gallon of gas, you will need to redeem 10 Rewards. [Read more…] about How To Use Safeway’s Rewards Program To Earn Gas, Cash or Free Groceries
I believe the universe presents you with unique moments to “do the right thing”, if you’re paying attention. I’m usually aloof and only interested in me, but, every now and then, I’m in tune with the bigger world around me. (By the way, I’m not fishing for you’re-such-a-good-guy comments, but, if you must… Me: *blushing* “Oh, no! Any one with a heart would have done the same thing.”) [Read more…] about Bryan Blathers: No Good Deed Goes…?

It’s happened to all of us bargain hunters. The mystery of the missing deal. Excited to save money, you go to a business or restaurant only to be told no such promo exists. Even worse is when it happens at the checkout stand. Awkward!
You’re ready to pay and notice you did not receive the discount. It can make for a rather embarrassing scenario. (And, yes, even worse is when you realize you didn’t receive the right price until you finally review your receipt at home. It can be a nightmare to get a price adjustment.)
In the end, it’s frustrating, disappointing and, to be frank, quite infuriating — especially for those of us who refuse to pay full price for anything. I largely only patronize a business or restaurant because of a promo price, coupon or sale. As a result, when there’s a problem with getting a discount, I’m not happy…at all. (Anyone else?) There are many die-hard bargain hunters out there in the Mile High City, just like me. I can’t pass a clearance rack or sale sign without taking a quick look. You know who you are. Some days, it feels like a curse. I must stop or it will drive me crazy thinking about the savings I may have missed. However, over the years, it’s presented a few problems. Fellow “cheapskates” will totally understand and appreciate the dilemma. Let me explain. [Read more…] about Bryan Blathers: Deal or No Deal?
FirstBank customers can bank on a good time with this promo exclusively for them. Did you know customers get early access to tickets for most shows at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield?
In the highly-competitive world of concert tickets, any advantage you can get on the secondary ticket market or die-hard fans is invaluable.
Customers have access to an exclusive presale of tickets, 24 hours before they officially go on sale. Buy up to eight tickets with a FirstBank Visa Debit Card or FirstBank Credit Card. Then, pick up your tickets on the day of the event with an ID and the same debit or credit card used for the transaction.

Every “true cheapskate” knows the value of his or her coupon file — literally and figuratively. To this end, every saver also knows the pain of losing it. Once again, this “tragedy” has befallen me…for the 6th time. (Yes, I am one of “those people” who always seems to misplace my keys, wallet and glasses.) This time, it was left in the child’s seat of a grocery cart at Safeway. (For any amateur detectives out there, it was the store at 1677 South Havana Street in Aurora on May 5.) I put my groceries in the trunk of the car and happily headed home. Not a worry in the world, until I realized I left my “treasure” in the cart. I panicked and quickly turned around to get back as quickly as possible — fighting traffic all the way, of course. [Read more…] about Lost & Found: I Lost My Coupons…Again
Everyone seems to love Chick-fil-A. Between its delectable chicken and top-notch customer service, it doesn’t get much better in the world of fast-food. You can’t hear “my pleasure” and not immediately think of all the polite, attentive and helpful employees…and always-super-clean dining area. (Plus, who can’t get enough of its Chick-fil-A Sauce?)
However, for hungry bargain hunters, it’s a challenge to find any savings at the (very) popular chain restaurant. They rarely (if ever) offer any coupons, unlike just about every other fast-food joint. Plus, they don’t have a value menu nor do they offer any meal deals. And, finally, they stopped its super popular Cow Calendar in 2018, after 20 years of chuckles at cows in ridiculous poses and FREE food every month.

What better to wash down a huge burrito than with a margarita? Chipotle Mexican Grill’s margaritas are made-to-order using Patrón Silver or Sauza tequila, triple sec, organic agave nectar and a blend of fresh lime & lemon juices.
On Thursday, February 22, Chipotle Mexican Grill is offering 50% off margaritas at participating locations in Colorado. The regular price ranges from about $5 to $7. A handful of locations do not serve alcohol, so be sure to check first before making dinner plans. Cheers!
If you received a gift card under the tree, review Bryan’s article at Living On The Cheap — “The Coupon Insider: Stretching gift cards.” He offers tips and tricks on how to stretch ’em further than their face value. A gift card may be hard plastic, but it’s definitely flexible — if you spend it wisely.
Plus, most of the holiday gift card bonus offers don’t end until December 31 — so you still have a few days to “cash in” on the offers. You might even consider spending some of your Christmas cash (if you received some) on gift cards at your favorite retailers and snag the bonuses before they’re gone. Review our “105 Gift Card Promos & Bonuses” post for more details.

This is a friendly PSA from someone who’s had his fair share of credit card fraud over the last several years. As a lifelong saver, there was a time I could tell you the balance in my checking and savings accounts right down to the penny. However, in the last year or so, I’ve become lazy — just eye-balling the various balances and think that “seems right.” My lackadaisical approach has largely been driven by the various alerts set on my accounts. I was lulled into thinking I was safe. I was not. [Read more…] about Bryan Blathers: Check Your Credit Card Statement Now!

We’ve had many debates with fellow bargain hunters about where to find the best grocery deals in town. For many, Safeway is at the top of the list. To be fair, we know many readers consider Safeway to be “too expensive.” However, we have found lots of savings at Safeway (especially since being acquired by Albertsons), so we’ve created a guide for navigating its aisles for the best deals and discounts. We have decades of experience as both Safeway customers and bargain hunters, so, hopefully, we can offer some “valuable” insight. (We’ve even been known to save upwards of 75% on our grocery bill.) This deal is extra-hot because Firehouse Subs is not known for many deals or discounts, unlike another well-known sub shop. The sandwich chain just introduced its Snack Time Combo for $5, which includes a small sub, chips and drink (22-oz.) Get the deal every day from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at participating locations. There are 21 shops in Colorado, with more opening soon.
In 1947, Lloyd J. King opened the first King Soopers in Arvada. His mission was to offer shoppers “friendly service, value, cleanliness and quality.” And, for us Coloradans, they have been doing it ever since. We’ve had many debates with fellow bargain hunters about where to find the best deals in town on groceries. For many, King Soopers is at the top of the list. To help shoppers, we’ve created a guide for navigating its aisles for the best deals and discounts. I’m not a theater critic, so I don’t have the credentials to thoughtfully critique any performance. That being said, I love the theater (especially musicals) and see just about every Broadway production that comes to town at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. (My all-time favorite is “Miss Saigon.” I’ve seen it more than 30 times. Obsessive much?)
Just like you, I know what I like — what makes my heart swell or gives me goosebumps. And the Broadway-bound production of “Frozen”, currently playing in Denver, made my heart swell, gave me goosebumps and more. Remember, I’m not a critic, so kindly excuse my rambling review. (I wrote it right after seeing the show on Friday night.) [Read more…] about Bryan Blathers: “Frozen” Will Warm Your Heart
There are oodles of rewards and benefits awaiting fans of Noodles & Company. The pasta-based, fast-casual restaurant just launched its first customer loyalty program — NoodlesREWARDS. Members get menu updates, special sneak peek access, member tastings invitations and sweepstakes opportunities. Plus, with each purchase, eat your way toward surprise rewards, including FREE menu items, Noodles swag and gift cards. (There is no set of tiers or levels, so it’s unclear how much you need to spend to earn rewards.) Of course, the reward program is via its app on a smartphone — click here. Don’t worry, if you don’t have a mobile device. You can still join and access your account online — just use your registered phone number, when you pay.(When you register, please use our referral code BryankCha827. We want to track how many MHOTC readers we refer to the program. How many do you think? 100? 500? 1,000? Thank you.)
It’s important to note that the new reward club does not replace its e-club. As a result, you’ll want to sign-up for both programs to get all of the offers and promos available. If you’re already an e-club member, you will still receive e-mail updates and offers, but you will need to register for the rewards club.
I’m back, bargain buddies! They say to never assume, right? So I should have known better. Based on recent reader feedback, it seems some bargain hunters need a refresher course on the ins and outs of freebies, discounts and deals. We know most readers are extremely appreciative of our bargain-hunting skills and know how to successfully navigate taking advantage of promos. (I have met so many wonderful readers at grand openings, store sales and sneak previews. Much of our success comes from great word-of-mouth by loyal readers like you. Did you know we now have more than 15,000 subscribers?)
However, you’d be surprised at the number of e-mails we receive just about every day with readers complaining about a deal, accusing us of posting falsehoods or claiming unfair treatment — always when a deal doesn’t work in their favor.
Much confusion and frustration can be avoided by simply reading the fine print and knowing most (if not, all) deals follow the same set of rules: participating locations only, limit one per person, while supplies last, etc. For more information on the deals we post, please read on… [Read more…] about Bryan Blathers: Price and Participation May Vary
Dining out can be very expensive, especially with the whole family. That’s why frugal families stretch their dollars by eating at restaurants where kids eat FREE or at a discount. Recently, we spent hours (and hours) updating our “Kids Eat FREE” page for you, our dear readers. (You’re welcome!) You can review our updated Kids Eat FREE page here.
However, we still highly encourage you to check first, before loading up the kids — as offers often change. If you’re in doubt about any requirements or restrictions, ask first before ordering. Or, even better yet, call ahead. An unexpected large tab can be quite frustrating for parents, so don’t be shy about asking questions.
We’ve also included a list of the basic guidelines, so you’re better prepared to navigate the menu of offers. If you know of a KEF promo we missed, send us an e-mail at bryan@milehighonthecheap.com.
