Once again Downtown Denver is the place to be for two spectacular fireworks shows, one for those such as families seeking an earlier evening at 9 p.m. and a second, identical extravaganza at midnight on New Year’s Eve, December 31. Both run about 8 minutes. Best viewing is the mile-long 16th Street Mall, which is lined with outdoor cafes equipped with heat lamps for those who prefer to people watch in comfort.
While thousands stroll the Mall, DJs spin music from 8 p.m. to midnight.
To accommodate the shows, RTD will make the following service adjustments:
- Starting at 8 p.m., D and H Line trains will not operate north of Theatre District•Convention Center Station. The trains will operate normally south of Theatre District•Convention Center Station
- L Line service will be suspended from 8 p.m. through the end of service; customers are encouraged to consider using bus Route 43 as an alternative service
- Free MallRide service on the 15th and 17th streets will continue during both events
- Customers using downtown routes should allow extra time for delays and detours, which may also affect scheduled connecting bus and rail trips
We have tons of other ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve and Day on the cheap.
