You don’t have to ask us twice. Here’s a chance to grill, chill and learn how to keep the young’uns occupied and safe this summer. The Southwest Denver Coalition, the Department of Public Safety’s Gang Reduction Initiative of Denver (GRID) and Denver Public Safety Youth Programs will host the 9th Annual Safe Summer Kickoff at Kepner Legacy School on Saturday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine.
This is a FREE family-friendly event where you can learn about community and government support services while enjoying FREE food, live entertainment, prize drawings and a variety of activities such as face painting and games. The event is also an opportunity to connect youth with alternative activities during the summer to keep them busy and safe.
Fifty private and public community organizations plan to participate providing info on youth services, financial security options, community policing, health and wellness options, voting services, and upcoming neighborhood social activities. Bilingual staff will be on hand. Members of the Department of Public Safety, including the Denver Police, Sheriff and Fire Departments will also attend.
Police will operate a “Safety Village” where attendees can ride tricycles and bicycles and learn about bicycle safety. Additionally, Crime Scene Investigation will be in attendance to do safety kits for youth attendees. 911 Hazel Ct., Denver.
