The Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition created the Breastival in 2016 as a means to inform, engage and support breastfeeding families. It was so successful that organizers are holding another one on Sunday, August 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Cheesman Park. This event is FREE and open to all families, with activities such as toddler yoga, infant sign language and a babywearing demonstration (we’re not sure what that last one is, but likely moms know). Kids can enjoy balloon animals, a bounce house and henna art. Food trucks will be parked on site. Those who RSVP in advance are eligible for door prizes.

CBS’ “Survivor” Open Casting Call in Wheat Ridge
Can you outwit, outplay and outlast living on an island with conniving strangers? If the answer is yes, mark your calendar for Friday, August 18 from noon to 4 p.m. and bring your best game face to Medved KIA (11201 W. Interstate 70) in Wheat Ridge. CBS is holding an open casting call for the 36th season of “Survivor.” You may begin lining up at 9:30 a.m. Camera crews will be on hand to capture the first 200 potential contestant’s one minute video showcasing why they would make a good contestant on the hit reality TV show. Casting is paperless with no application forms necessary. (Although, to save time, print and sign the waiver and bring it to the casting call.) You just need to bring yourself, any props you might need and lots of enthusiasm. For more information, including a link to the waiver, click here. If you make to the island, be sure and mention that you heard about it on Mile High On The Cheap!

Even though we live in Broncos Country, the sun’s rays won’t be orange all day on Monday, August 21 because of a total solar eclipse at 11:47 a.m. For just a few minutes, the moon will pass between Earth and the sun, completely blocking the sun’s light and bringing temporary darkness. (Unfortunately, Denver won’t witness 100% coverage of the sun.) [Read more…] about Free Broncos Solar Eclipse Glasses at Grease Monkey
Get McDonald’s/Broncos Key Tag in Today’s Denver Post
We have confirmed there will be a McDonald’s/Broncos key tag available again, this season. (Initially, we thought the deal was only going to be available via the McDonald’s app.) Unofficially, we have confirmed that the key tag will be available in today’s The Denver Post — Wednesday, August 9. (The key tag is usually only available for one day in the paper.) Based on reader feedback, it seems the tag is in papers on the newsstand — not papers delivered to subscribers. Again, we’re only providing a “heads up.” We have no control over their distribution. [Read more…] about Get McDonald’s/Broncos Key Tag in Today’s Denver Post

New Belgium Cancels Tour de Fat Denver 2017
New Belgium Brewing is canceling the 2017 Fat Tire Tour de Fat in Denver featuring Capital Cities. Non-profit partners, Bike Denver and the Denver Cruiser ride, will still receive the anticipated funds from Tour de Fat. New Belgium expanded Tour de Fat this year by adding more cities and bringing in larger musical acts. The goal was to generate more funds for an even larger number of non-profit partners and to introduce new people to the Tour de Fat experience.
However, this change resulted in format and venue changes for many cities including Denver and there was some push-back from patrons. For those who purchased tickets to Denver’s Tour de Fat, there are two options: [Read more…] about New Belgium Cancels Tour de Fat Denver 2017
