st metro area art walks are on the first Friday of each month, but Longmont schedules most of its on Saturdays and this month has planned its FREE downtown ArtWalk Longmont for Saturday, September 16 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Click here to download a block-by-block map. Wander the downtown streets for art, music, food, kids’ activities and more. The event stretches along Main St. between Third and Sixth, plus occasional jogs down a side street. One of these is the chance to visit the historic Callahan House (3rd and Terry), which is open to the public just a few times a year.

IKEA: All-U-Can-Eat Swedish Crayfish Party for $14.99
IKEA in Centennial is celebrating one of the most important social events in Sweden — kräftskiva, a.k.a. a crayfish party. The annual party is usually held during the height of the crayfish season. Participants often wear funny hats and sing songs.
This year, the kräftskiva is on Friday, September 15 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For $14.99 per adult and $2.99 for kids (12 and under), get your fill of traditional Swedish fare, including crayfish, salmon, meatballs, salads, dinner rolls and more — as well as desserts and beverages.

Free and Low-Cost Electronics Recycling Event
An annual e-cycle event that benefits Metro Denver Crime Stoppers is a way to get rid of hard-to-recycle electronics safely and cheaply. The 9News E-Cycle event is Saturday, September 9 at Coors Field from 7 a.m. to noon in Parking Lot A. Most items are taken for FREE, with the hope that you will make a donation to Crime Stoppers, a non-profit organization that runs on donations that are used to pay rewards to anonymous tipsters who help solve crime in our communities.

Two Free Boulder Phil Concerts This Weekend
Musicians from the Boulder Philharmonic are playing two FREE one-hour concerts this weekend. On Saturday, September 9, the orchestra’s brass ensemble plays from 11 a.m. to noon at the outdoor Flagstaff Sunrise Amphitheater. The landmark venue is on public land managed by Boulder Mountain Parks and Open Space, which is 50 years old this year.
On Sunday, September 10, a string quartet of Boulder Phil artists play at the Boulder Public Library. An “instrument petting zoo” at 1:15 p.m. enables youngsters to get up close and personal with a variety of instruments, followed by the concert from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The orchestra is celebrating its 60th anniversary of bringing classical music to Boulder and last season was one of just four regional orchestras invited to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

The Highlands Music Festival is a music and community celebration of of Denver’s Potter Highlands, West Highlands, and Sunnyside historic neighborhoods also known as the Northside. The event on Saturday, September 16. follows a half century old North Denver tradition of grass roots community gatherings in an open outdoor “on the grass” setting. The all-day concert features Heatwave, Denver Blues Icon Sammy Mayfield and the Sammy Mayfield Blues Band, Soul Sacrifice (Santana tribute show), The Citizen Dan (Steely Dan tribute show), The Cisco’s Kids (WAR tribute show) and Jamedica. Aurora Hosts National Preparedness Fair
