Check Out The Franktown Festival of Lights

POSTED BY
Laura

This may be one of the best excuses for a holiday “road-trip.” For more than 16 years, the Raper family has been lighting up the Deerfield community in Franktown. This year’s Franktown Festival of Lights includes more than 200,000 lights covering more than two acres of 20- to 75-foot tall trees, gifts under the largest tree and the house. Many families spend up to an hour enjoying the grounds and unique light shows. Best of all, it’s FREE!

You can walk Frosty’s Forest Trail (be sure to bundle up). You can stay in your vehicle or do both. Just be careful as there is pedestrian traffic and also trails can be slippery and uneven.

Tune your car radio to 90.7 FM to enjoy favorite Christmas music between light shows and listen to synchronized music during light shows which run every 20 minutes.

Outdoor speakers let you enjoy music while walking or watching light shows for those not able to park close.

Visitors can drive through a 15-foot ornament, be awed by a 13-foot tall Ferris wheel with favorite Disney and Sesame Street passengers, spy Santa soaring in a plane 25 feet above the trees and explore Frosty’s Forest trail.

A tip: Headlights should be turned off, or parking lights only, for best viewing experience. But, remember to check your headlights when you leave!

MHOTC Reader Tip: Roxanne says, “Viewers should back their cars into the spaces across the street for the best view of the shows.”

Lights are on nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. November 28 through December 29, 2024. Light shows synchronized to music every 20 minutes start at 5:20 p.m. The last light show is at 9:40 p.m.

The Franktown Festival of Lights is located 15 minutes from Castle Rock and Parker. This year the family is accepting donations of canned goods, non-perishable food or hygiene items to support the local food banks.

575 N. White Tail Dr., Franktown.
