Did Mile High On The Cheap Win Westword’s Best of Denver for the 5th Year?

POSTED BY
Bryan

Before we get to the big announcement, we have to thank all of you for your support and kind words during this year’s Westword’s Best of Denver 2024 campaign — especially to those readers who diligently voted for us every day. And we know many of you did! Whether you voted for us once or multiple times, we’re grateful that you took the time to show your love and support of MHOTC.

Okay, are you ready? Drum roll, please.

Our reign has ended! Unfortunately, we did not win the Readers’ Choice for Best FREE Service in 2024. This year, the accolades go to the Denver Public Library.

We love libraries, so there are no hard feelings on our part. Libraries offer a world of free services and benefits to the community, so we’re definitely cheering them on.

Now, we wouldn’t be honest, if we did not admit that we are a bit disappointed at the loss. We were on a roll for four years in a row, so it seemed like a “five-peat” was inevitable. Alas, it was not. However, our success isn’t about winning awards or being recognized publicly.

It’s about the relationship we’ve built with you over the last 15 years, our loyal readers and frugal friends. We feel the love in the comments you leave and the e-mails we receive, as well as the personal interactions we have with you at movie sneak previews, grand openings and community events. (We’ve even had readers anonymously send us gift cards for the holidays!)

As a matter of fact, we crown you the Best Loyal Readers & Frugal Friends of 2024! Without you, our success year after year is simply not possible. How else could we be celebrating our 15th birthday this year?

Awards and accolades aside, our best marketing tool has always been you — loyal readers telling friends, family, co-workers and neighbors about Mile High On The Cheap.

We hope you will continue to share “our values” on your social media, at a community meeting or in your workplace newsletter. Trust us, word-of-mouth definitely helps us to grow by reaching new audiences and businesses.

If you can, we’d appreciate you encouraging your friends and family to subscribe to our daily e-newsletter. Send them this link — Sign-up for Mile High On The Cheap’s daily e-newsletter here.

Whether you’re a novice bargain hunter or seasoned saver, we’re always here for you — ready to share the latest news about low-cost or FREE events, where to enjoy cheap eats around town and how to save money shopping.

Let’s look to 2025 to regain the title of Readers’ Choice for Best FREE Service!

In Cheapness & Gratitude – Laura & Bryan

How about this, Mile High on the Cheap (MHOTC) is the best nongovernmental free service. MHOTC is a must check daily and has been for more years than I remember. Yet, I cannot disagree with this year’s decision. Good or bad a public library is a community lifeline, needed just as much today as when this country was founded. I understand libraries competing against other libraries. Libraries should be in a category all their own. In my book, MHOTC is still # 1 free service.
