Veterans and Active-Duty Military Can See ‘Thank You For Your Service’ For Free

Universal Pictures and AMC Theatres are distributing up to 10,000 free tickets to U.S. veterans and active-duty military members for Thank You for Your Service. This freebie is for the 7 p.m. only showing of the film on Thursday, October 26 at all AMC Theatres. Each of the first 25 service members (per location) with valid, government-issued ID who request a ticket will be given one FREE admission to the 7 p.m. screening. The film follows a group of U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq who struggle to integrate back into family and civilian life, while living with the memory of a war that threatens to destroy them long after they’ve left the battlefield.

Here’s how to get the deal: Go here for a list of participating theaters and more information. Enter your city to find a list of participating theaters. Again, the promo is only valid for the 7 p.m. screening on Thursday. You can go to the theater when it opens starting at 9 a.m. to pick up a pass. Otherwise, you should call the theater to double check that they have free tickets left before heading out.

Special Focus Group Seeks Denver Participants – Earn $75 Gift Card

Party Time at Renamed Boulder Ski Deals

Long-running Boulder Ski Deals, part of the Colorado Ski & Golf Family and therefore owned by Vail Resorts, has been rebranded as Epic Mountain gear. The celebration today, Saturday, October 21, 2 to 6 p.m. features  meet-and-greet with Ripperoo, Keystone’s  skiing dog, and face painting for the kids and  apetizers, refreshments and an on-site DJ from Boulder’s 97.3 KBCO. Updated with some free flu shot clinics! This year’s influenza season is turning out to be nasty, with higher than average number of people hospitalized already. If you haven’t had a flu shot, it’s especially important to protect yourself and your family. Immunizations are widely available across the Front Range. For the best deal, check with your insurance plan or doctor to see if you can get one for FREE. In almost all cases, the answer is YES! Pharmacies and clinics can also contact your insurance company on your behalf.

There are two vaccines — the Trivalent (3-strains) and Quadrivalent (4-strains). Adults over the age of 65 may need the High Dose flu shot which does cost even more but is covered by Medicare. Two Spooky Films at Denver Public Library

The spotlight shines on filmmaker Woody Allen the Denver Public Library (Central Branch) hosts two spooky movies this month on Sunday afternoons. Both screenings are FREE and there’s FREE popcorn, trivia and prizes. The first film is Resurrect Dead (2011), a documentary about Philadelphia residents working to solve the urban mystery of cryptic tiled messages appearing in city streets. Showtime is 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 22. Harvest Festival and Charity Toy Drive at Town Center at Aurora

Town Center at Aurora, once known as the Aurora Mall, is staging a Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the southwest parking lot by JCPenney. The fest has a dual purpose — that of a charity toy drive for Children’s Hospital Colorado Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders. The public can enjoy a variety of FREE activities including kids mini-pumpkin decorating (for the first 150 children), bounce houses, face painting, train rides, a photo booth, live music and more. Prize drawings (worth $300+) will be held at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. To enter the drawing you must purchase a ticket for $5 or donate an unwrapped new toy. It’s almost “soup weather”! Although, here in Colorado, one day, it’s perfect for a hot bowl of soup and the next day you can be wearing shorts.
