Free College Fair At Denver Mart

mortarboardRepresentatives of some 290 colleges and universities set up information stations at the FREE Denver National College Fair on Sunday, September 30 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It’s the place to get some guidance on finding the right college, plus important information on scholarships and financial aid. A list of the participating schools is on the website.

These include state colleges and universities, junior and community colleges, private non-profit colleges, for-profit institutions and even international options are represented. The event is relevant both for high schoolers getting ready for college and adults returning to school. Register online. Denver Mart, Expo Halls 2 and 3, 451 E. 58th Ave., Denver.

Aurora Crossings Grand Opening Promises Lots of Family Fun

The details are brief on this celebration, but it may be worth a stop for the family — if you live in the area. A new strip mall of sorts has popped up at the corner of S. Parker Rd. and E. Warren Ave.

Aurora Crossings (2250 S. Parker Rd.) in Denver has been open for a few months now, but they’re now officially celebrating its opening, including Firehouse Subs, Arby’s, Aurora Village Dental Group, Bubbas 33, Einstein Bagels, and Murphy USA.

Affordable Tickets at the Arvada Center

Live theater can be costly, but the Arvada Center has a money-saving tradition of offering three midweek previews for significantly less than the regular run. For performances on the Main Stage, all seats at previews are $36, compared with seats starting at $53 during the regular run. Preview tickets in the more intimate Black Box Theater are $25 compared with $40 and up for the regular run.

Opening this season is “Mamma Mia!” on the Main Stage, September 7 to 30 with previews September 4 to 6. Click here for the live theater schedule. See ‘Spellbound’ For Free At Denver Central Library

The spotlight shines on filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock as the Denver Public Library (Central Branch) screens Spellbound on Sunday, September 2 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The screenings is FREE and there’s FREE popcorn, trivia and prizes. Spellbound (1945) is a thrilling spiral of psychoanalytic confusion directed by the master of suspense Hitchcock. Travel Channel Films ‘Food Paradise’ at Boulder’s The Sink

Do you want to be on TV? Are you interested in how a TV show is filmed? The Travel Channel is filming a new season of “Food Paradise” and will be featuring The Sink’s food. Fans are invited to join the fun on Thursday, August 30 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the popular restaurant (1165  13th  St.) in Boulder. (They will be on location filming various segments from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

While there’s no guarantee, you just might make the final cut and be on TV. (Also, note there is no FREE food on the menu, just because of the filming.) If you’re not familiar with the show, Food Paradise airs every Sunday night and is one of The Travel Channel’s longest running series.
