Harkins Theatres is bringing everyone’s favorite mischievous, yellow, banana-loving characters back to the big screen with its Illumination Film Festival from Friday, October 26 to Thursday, November 1.

Here in Colorado, you can enjoy the festival at both Harkins Theatres locations in Arvada and Denver. See Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets, Sing and Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax for $5 each during the week-long family-friendly event. Each film screens once each day of the festival, so, if you have a favorite, you can see it multiple times.

The Dumb Friends League has more than 200 cats looking for a loving home. Through Sunday, October 21, adopt an adult cat (1 year and older) for FREE. Feline adoption fees typically range from $55 to $75, so this is a great savings. Each pet’s adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, initial vaccinations, microchip ID implant and registration and a free office visit with a participating veterinarian.

All potential pet parents still must go through the screening process. The Dumb Friends League deal is good at both the Quebec Street Shelter at 2080 S. Quebec St. in Denver and the Buddy Center at 4556 Castleton Ct. in Castle Rock.

Everyone should enjoy Halloween — all the frivolous fun. However, it can be expensive with all the candy, decorations and costumes.
