Bargain hunters are always on the lookout for discounts, clearance and specials every time they shop — especially at the grocery store. Seasoned shoppers know to keep an eye out for red tags on the shelves and/or hidden clearance racks at the back of the store, but there’s also the rare Manager’s Specials that can also offer big savings.

A “Manager’s Special” means that the manager at that specific store location has decided to offer a discount on specific products, exclusive to only that location. This means the discounts’ availability and amounts vary widely by location. Just because one location has discounted an item does not mean that the location down the street will offer the same savings.
The reason to discount a product can vary, but often includes overstock and/or items that are about to expire. It’s not often you can spot Manager’s Specials much anymore, but there’s one place that offers them just about every day at every location — Sprouts Farmers Market.

The key is to always look at the produce department, namely the back refrigerated wall with various bagged produce and cut-up fruits. (On occasion, you can also find Manager’s Specials at the front entrance and/or throughout the produce department.) You can always find a variety of Manager’s Specials (including on organic produce!) — just look for the special tags. The discounts are often 75% off or more.
Yes, most of the produce products expire that same day…or usually within the next day or so. The trick is to always check all of the dates and find the package with the furthest expiration date — if one is available. The savings are optimum, if you’re using the produce for dinner that night or possibly breakfast or lunch the following day.

Our team has spotted lots of bagged salads, spinach, cut-up fruits (including pineapple, watermelon and cantaloupe), cauliflower, broccoli, coconut chunks, onions, salad dressings, sweet potatoes and more. Again, the selection and availability varies by day and by location. Bargain hunters could easily walk away with a good haul for under $10!
So, the next time you’re shopping at Sprouts Farmers Market, take a quick peek at the back wall in the produce section for fresh savings!

Thanks! Very helpful and I found a bag of spinach for 49 cents, normally over $4. And the produce was still fresh with no bad leaves. Appreciate MHOTC!
