Raise a horn for Olsok, a feast day honoring the mighty King Olaf II Haraldsson. The Scandinavian Alliance of Colorado hosts two Olsok parties on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Viking Axe Throwing in Westminster. Every year in July, Scandinavians gather across Norway, the Faroe Islands, and even parts of Sweden and Finland, to remember the king who was slain by a pagan Viking’s axe on the battlefield.
Though times have changed, Olsok remains a day to honor Olaf’s memory and the strength he brought to Nordic people.
The theme of this year’s Olsok party is light and dark — celebrating both in each of us.
LIGHT PARTY — 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This is an all ages, family-friendly event and celebrates the lighter side of Nordic culture. Enjoy a taste of Scandinavia and celebrate Olsok with some light-hearted frivolity.
Wear a flower crown, paint an ornament, play games, and hear stories. Peruse the items for sale from some Scandi and Viking vendors.
Participate in a kid-friendly costume expo.

DARK PARTY — 7 p.m. until the cows come home
This is a 21+ Adults-only costume party. Dress to impress as there are prizes for best costumes in a few categories like Most Authentic, Most Hollywood, and Sexiest Viking.
This 21+ party is BYOB.
Axe throwing is included in your admission fee.
Celebrate the darker side of Olsok, and party like it’s 999.
