baby goatWe realize the Arapahoe County Fair doesn’t start until July 26 (and runs through July 29), but now is the time to buy tickets if you really want to save. Daily admission includes unlimited carnival rides, plus all rodeos, Main Stage concerts, fireworks, 4-H shows, tractor pulls, the high-flying Dueling Dogs competition and family entertainment.

Fair-goers can see farm animals such as rabbits, pigs and poultry in the East Wing and horses, cattle, goats and sheep in the Livestock Pavilion. Shop more than 40 vendors and enjoy live music by 10 bands on the Main Stage.

Buy discounted tickets online before July 26 (by 4 p.m.) for just $10. (Tickets will be $15 per person at the gate, cash only.) Note: Children under 36″ in height get in FREE. Find a full schedule of events here.

The Fair is sure to thrill with a high-flying Dueling Dogs competition, tractor pulls, mutton bustin’, two nights of fireworks and rodeo. A Kid’s Corral and Petting Farm will keep the kiddos happy.

See rabbits, pigs and poultry in the east wing and horses, cattle, llamas, alpacas, goats and sheep in the livestock pavilion. Shop more than 40 vendors and groove to the tunes from 10 bands on the Main Stage including Richie Law, Buckstein and the Tyler Walker Band.

We especially like the homespun contests such as “Fastest Fingers in the West Knitting Contest both Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m., daily pie eating competitions and even a potato peeling contest.

Fairgoers 21 and older can imbibe for $20 at the Craft Brew Fest on Friday. The event features more than 25 local brewers, food and music and is held inside, in the air-conditioned Exhibition Hall. Your entry fee gets access to the event, a souvenir cup, unlimited tasting, a Jim n’ Nicks BBQ plate, and live music.

A Home Brew Competition on Saturday, July 28 starts at noon. The $15 entry fee gets access to the event, a souvenir cup, unlimited tasting, a plate of food, and educational workshops for brewers and consumers.

Kids under 36-inches tall get in FREE all week. Only midway games cost extra. Pay just $10 per person (+ convenience fee) if you buy tickets online by July 26 at 4 p.m. or $15 per person (cash only) at the gate.

Parking is $5 per vehicle. Note: the fair is a cash only event, no credit cards or checks accepted though they do have ATMs on-site.

Fair gates open at 4 p.m. on Thursday and at 11 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For directions and a complete event schedule, visit the Fair’s website. Arapahoe County Fairgrounds, 25690 East Quincy Ave., Aurora.

Last year my family and I enjoyed the fair. Our favorite part was the petting zoo. The baby animals just melt our hearts!
