On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the Colorado chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA– yes, it’s a real group) is hosting its annual Road-E-O — a competition where some of the region’s most skilled garbage truck drivers, mechanics, and heavy equipment operators navigate precision obstacle courses using full-size trucks. The FREE event goes from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and should be a ton of fun for the entire family.

This is a rare opportunity to get up close to the trucks people see every day and meet the crews who keep our communities running. It’s a fun, fast-paced event that showcases just how much skill these everyday professionals bring to the job.
In addition to the competition, there will be food trucks, a DJ spinning tunes, face painting, bull riding equipment, and even a spouse tricycle course.

Beyond the fun, the event highlights an important story: solid waste and recycling is one of the most dangerous industries in the country, and this competition is rooted in promoting safety and recognizing the workers who do this essential work every day.
Winners go on to represent Colorado at the national SWANA Road-E-O.
Colorado Road-E-O is being held at the Denver International Airport CDL Training Lot, 7198 Scottsburg St., Denver.
