Reusable Cup Earns Discount & Bonus Stars at Starbucks — Includes Drive-Thru & Mobile Orders

POSTED BY
Bryan

Don’t forget to bring your cup! Enjoying a coffee or tea is a daily ritual for many and there’s a good chance they’re getting their fill at Starbucks. With so many cups being poured every day, it also means there’s an unfortunate by-product — lots and lots of empty white cups. To reduce the waste, Starbucks is making it more valuable for customers to bring a reusable cup to the café for their daily drink.

Starbucks Rewards members earn a discount and stars every time they bring a reusable cup for their drink — 10¢ off their beverage and 25 Bonus Stars added to their loyalty account. (Be sure your cup is clean!)

The discount may seem minimal, but every bargain hunter knows that change adds up. The frequent customer could save a buck or two every month. That adds up to $12 to $24 every year!

However, the true incentive for bringing a reusable cup is with the 25 Bonus Stars.

Twenty-five (25) Stars earns Starbucks Rewards members a FREE customization on a drink, including an espresso shot, dairy substitute, added syrup and more.

One hundred (100) Stars can be redeemed for a FREE brewed hot (or iced) coffee or tea, bakery item, packaged snack and more. That means bring a reusable cup just four (4) times!

And 200 Stars earns a FREE handcrafted drink or breakfast sandwich. That means bring a reusable cup just eight (8) times!

Thanks to the incentive, loyal customers could easily enjoy a few FREE drinks or treats every month for simply using a reusable cup every time they visit Starbucks.

The bonus offer is valid at participating locations via the drive-thru, the Starbucks app or in-café — up to three (3) times per day.

Starting January 3, 2024, the incentive is available at the drive-thru and via mobile ordering.

Here’s how it works:

In-Café

In café, tell the barista that you brought your own personal cup when you order. Then, hand your personal cup to the barista. If you choose to sit and stay in-café, you can also request a reusable ceramic or glass cup at most locations.

Drive-Thru

At the drive-thru, order your beverage as usual and let the barista know you brought your own cup. At the pick-up window, the barista will collect your personal cup (without the lid) using a contactless vessel to ensure hygiene and safety. Your beverage will be returned the same way.

Starbucks App

When you order via the Starbucks app, hit the “Customization” button and select “Personal Cup” in the customization menu and continue ordering as normal. When you get to the store, connect with the barista at the pick-up area. Then, hand over your clean personal cup (without the lid). The barista will hand the beverage back in a contactless vessel.
