Science. Technology. Engineering. Arts. Mathematics. Girls STEAM Day is filled with engaging and hands-on STEAM activities dedicated to empowering girls and young women towards careers in STEAM, in aerospace and beyond. On Sunday, September 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is partnering with fellow institutions, industry-leaders and experts to immerse girls of all ages in exciting STEAM activities. This is a terrific opportunity to turn girls onto the wonders of science.
Among the event highlights:
- Play with drones and other UAVs
- Inflatable Planetarium
- Flight simulators
- Smoke and fire safety demonstrations
- Hear from experts in various STEAM fields
- Engage with local companies and scientific societies
- Interact with institutions of higher education
- Explore Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum
Workshops (geared towards kids ages 10-17) include Core Drilling (using cupcakes), Human Survival at High Altitudes (using Peeps), jewelry making, making your own flashlight, lessons in riveting and more. Each session is capped at 20 people. Sign-ups will be onsite.
During “Ask me Anything!” sessions, a variety of subject matter experts will be taking questions from the audience.
The first 300 people through the door will receive FREE lunch from A Spice of Life Catering.
To ensure that everyone gets enough hands-on time, attendance is capped at 1,200. Organizers will accept 700 pre-registrations and 500 walk-ups. Admission is $5 for adults (17+) and FREE for youth (16 and younger). You can register online here. Parking is FREE. 7711 E. Academy Blvd., Denver.
