Many of us use social media and neighborhood groups — Facebook, Instagram or Nextdoor or other means to share info about our daily lives, news and events of interest. Mile High on the Cheap brings you deals and community news as quickly as we can. But sometimes breaking news, a fast-moving deal or in-store clearance item is either too fast-moving or old news before we can bring it to your attention.

That goes for MHOTC readers, too. We know many of you have found that amazing score in the clearance aisle or hidden in some grocery store shelf and wanted to share with others beyond doing a happy dance in the store parking lot.
Maybe it’s a “hot” toy that a single Walmart is selling for 90% off or perfectly good granola bars being dumped by a supermarket because the brand is changing packaging.
Here’s where Reddit comes in. The platform offer hundreds of thousands of subReddits, each focusing on a specific topic. Some are very broad, say the one for fans of Broadway or Arvada residents; others are hyper-focused–anyone for pictures of snakes wearing hats?
Now there’s one for called r/DenverSavings.
This community is a place to share deals, freebies and other ways to save at retailers and restaurants across the Front Range, especially those deals that have a very short shelf-life (pun intended).
Laura and Bryan often post there, as do other budget-conscious locals.
You might find news about a store closing or tips on shopping clearance, with an example of an item on deep discount (but not properly marked).
Most important, this is another place to share your finds and tips, as well as free or very low-cost events.
Don’t worry, our Mile High on the Cheap Facebook Community isn’t going anywhere. And our newsletter is still churning along 365 days a year.
But with so many of us having a hard time making ends meet, it’s nice to have a place that allows us to not only share, but ask questions about where to find all things “Mile High cheap.”
And no pressure to join Reddit. The platform is not for everyone. Social media can be time-consuming and we all source our news in different ways.
But if you are already using it, do check out r/DenverSavings.
