No More Free Parking at Cherry Creek Shopping Center

POSTED BY
Laura

The Cherry Creek Shopping Center is ending it’s “first hour of parking is free” deal starting Tuesday, January 21. So no more park and dash for customers who have just a quick errand. Going forward, the shopping center will charge $2 for parking up to two hours, and another $2 for each additional hour, according to new signage.

Since 2017, the shopping center has charged a fee for parking in the garages and surface lots. Through the 21st you can still park free for the first hour, $3 for up to two hours, $4 for up to three hours and $2 for each additional hour after that.

Cherry Creek Shopping Center management told local media outlets that most shoppers spend one to two hours there and those folks will pay $1 less (instead of $3, they’ll pay $2).

MHOTC Tip: Wish we had one, but there seems no getting around this new policy. While we haven’t been able to confirm, you may still receive parking validation at the AMC Cherry Creek movie theater and other mall retailers and restaurants. Otherwise, be prepared to pay up.

What do you think about this change in policy? Leave your comments below.

I haven’t been to that mall since they instituted a parking fee. There are plenty of other places to shop.

There goes my free local source for air in my tires!

I won’t go there. Do they really want to do this to struggling retai stores? Cherry Creek is a mess overall. Little long range planning.

Why go to Cherry Creek when you can park for free at Park Meadows? Plus, the tax rate is lower. I think Cherry Creek is shooting themselves in the foot. Retailers are having a tough time as it is. Why compound the situation by charging customers for the ‘privilege’ of shopping?

Ridiculous to increase the parking fee. Greedy. Maybe they will see a decrease in traffic of shoppers and change it back. There are plenty of other places to shop for free.

Except for Christmas I never have a hard time finding a place to park in the garage. Now there will be even more empty parking spots!! I feel so bad for the merchants.
