With the extremely high temperatures lately, everyone will be using more ice — whether it’s for drinks at home or filling the cooler for a family adventure. Once the ice from the freezer is depleted (or for those without an ice maker), you often have to buy a few bags of ice to get you through the hot days of summer. And, as usual, bargain hunters want to find the hottest price around.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that it doesn’t get more convenient and less expensive than heading to McDonald’s for one of summers highly-coveted items — bags of ice!
The fast-food restaurant sells an 8-pound bag of ice for just $1.49 at participating locations.
The price varies by location with some a little lower (as low as $1.29) and some a littler higher (around $1.69), but always a really cool deal. Regardless of the price, it’s still less expensive than most grocery or convenience stores. (Note: Not all locations sell ice.)
Many die-hard cheapskates keep a small cooler in the car with bottled water and/or other beverages on hot days, when spending a summer day on the town. (Do you really think a bargain hunter would pay $2 to $3 for a bottle of water or soda at the checkout stand? No way!)
Plus, ice works for keeping perishable items cold from the grocery aisles to your kitchen refrigerator or freezer. With it, you won’t to rush back home on a summer weekend running errands. Just keep the ice in a few gallon-size Ziploc bags in your insulated bag or cooler, so everything doesn’t get wet by the time you get home.
And, of course, you will definitely need lots and lots of ice, if you’re throwing a summer party or backyard BBQ.
An inexpensive bag of ice on a hot summer day is a small investment that pays off in keeping you and your budget from getting overheated.
