About Long Hand
Owner Steph McCourt has been live embroidering around Denver under the name Contrarium Chainstitch since 2019. She is now opening Long Hand, a chainstitch embroidery studio and gift shop on South Broadway.
Long Hand uses vintage chainstitch embroidery machines from the 1930’s to embroider onto denim jackets, bandanas, tote bags, hats and more. Since the process is done entirely freehand (often while you wait), customers can bring in an item they already own to be personalized and walk away with a “new” entirely customized item.
The Long Hand shop features the embroidery workshop, but also a section for customizable gifts, stickers and more, Plus, the shop is home to a Little Free Art Supply Exchange where customers can bring unwanted art supplies and exchange them for something new to try.
The new shop is located at 2344 South Broadway in Denver.
(MHOTC has personally experienced shop owner Steph “handy work” in-person and were totally impressed with the final product — totally unique, fun and well-done! The options are endless for customizing the perfect item to stand out in the crowd or add a personal touch to an existing item.)
