In late June, Kroger announced that it would be closing 60 stores across the country over the next year or so — due to “financial strategy and low profitability”. And, unfortunately, (as of now) one location in Colorado is on the chopping block. The King Soopers at 5050 Arapahoe Rd. in Centennial will officially close its doors on August 16, 2025.

Our team personally visited the store on July 20, 2025 for a little investigative work, so you don’t have to make a special trip.
And, as of now, it’s business as usual at the location — no close-out discounts or specials. All of the store’s weekly ad prices and digital coupons are still in full effect.
More Store Closings
Unfortunately, King Soopers is not alone in its restructuring of stores.
Safeway closed its Lakewood location on August 9, 2025.
Walgreens announced the closure of two locations in September.
