Here’s an affordable, cool alternative to those hot summer days: Great Outdoors Waterpark in Lafayette. It may not be the largest complex in town, but it offers a ton of amenities including a lazy river (with tubes), 21-foot high double flume slides, aqua arch (think monkey bars over the water), lap pool, vortex pool and much more for all ages.
The park opens May 29 (through August 13) and you can buy tickets online two-days in advance of the date you want to visit. Simply chose your day and pay online, then show up at the Waterpark on your Pay in Advance date. Head to the entrance and simply present your receipt on your smartphone or printed copy.
The park is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a few exceptions (check website for details). Admission is $10/adults, $7.50/ youth 2 to 17) and $7.50/seniors. Five visit punch passes are available, as are season passes.
If you want to cool off into the evening, a Sunset Swim is held Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Entry is just $5 per person.
Passes are good all day, so you can leave the park and then return, if needed.
