Playing in the park is always the go-to adventure for families with kids, especially during the summer. It’s an opportunity for kids to use their imagination, keep active and play in the sunshine. And now families have another option, thanks to the opening of 9+CO’s Cloud 9 Park — a new 1.7 acre park in the community for residents and locals of all ages.

In addition, the park will feature the first padel court in Denver, as well as an art installation by Ana María Hernando that was originally commissioned by the Madison Square Park Conservancy in New York City.
To celebrate the opening of the new park, 9+CO is hosting a grand opening celebration on June 28, 2025 from 11 a.m. to to 3 p.m.
Open to the public, the event will feature an ice cream social, live music by Dotsero, food trucks, FREE padel play, artist meet & greets, rock painting and more.
9+CO is located at the intersection of 9th Ave. and Colorado Blvd.
Padel Court
9+CO’s new park is home to downtown Denver’s first padel court. The fastest growing global sport with more than 25 million players worldwide, padel is coming quickly to Colorado. Played in doubles on a smaller, enclosed court than a tennis court, padel is a mix of pickleball, tennis, and squash.
Beginning June 28, 2025, the court will offer FREE Open Play from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and reservations for private play at the cost of $80/hour during the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Players can make reservations by visiting aspenpadel.club/cloud9park.
Art Installations
One of the more arresting aspects of the new park at 9+CO will be the art installation “To Let the Sky Know” by Ana Maria Hernando, a multidisciplinary artist based in Denver, New York, and Buenos Aires.
Originally commissioned by the Madison Square Park Conservancy in New York City, “To Let the Sky Know” presents a series of three cascading bouquets of lilac and yellow tulle that moves with the wind, and a field of floating circles in orange, white, and pink tulle.
In addition, in the previous Pizzeria Locale location at the corner of Ash and 9th, a new architectural installation is open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through July 3, 2025.
Designed by 11 x 17, the exhibit recently won the Architectural League Prize, a prestigious, biennial competition that recognizes visionary work by young practitioners in North America. This year, the theme of the competition was Plot, which asked entrants to chronicle that which bookends their practices and to demonstrate plot’s persistent role as main character.
The same location will host a second exhibit of DEVO photography from July 5 to 20, 2025. Showcasing prints by photographers nationwide – including local photographer Richard Peterson – the exhibit will offer prints for sale and buyers will have the opportunity to meet DEVO band members in a pre-show gathering prior to their July 21 performance at Mission Ballroom. All proceeds will benefit MCA Denver.
