Free Kids Food Film at Boulder Fest

POSTED BY
Claire

The Flatirons Food Film Festival offers “Children and Family Food Traditions,” a FREE event for  families to watch, talk and learn about the importance of simple family food traditions that allow family members to gather and appreciate each other and their food. It takes place on Saturday, October 13, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Three short food films that highlight family and food are followed by a brief interactive discussion.

The program concludes with hands-on learning as the De Giorgi and Nagamoto families, both local to Boulder, share their Italian and Japanese cultural food traditions at separate stations.

Youngsters can learn to make crostini and onigiri (rice balls), taste them and receive instructions to make them at home. Natural Grocers also demonstrates how to make simple kid-friendly healthy food to incorporate into new family traditions.

This film is shown at the Boulder Public Library 1001 Arapahoe Ave. (but physically at Canyon and 10th St.). Since it is on a Saturday, families can also explore the nearby Boulder County Farmers‘ Market, a couple of blocks to east on 13th St. between Canyon and Arapahoe.

Parking in city garages is FREE on weekends. The closest one is at Walnut and 10th.
