Playwright and lead performer Regan Linton and director M. Graham Smith have come together to launch their co-creation, FDR’s Very Happy Hour running through November 1 in the Studio Loft of the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. A limited number of number of Choose Your Price tickets are available for every performance, starting at $5.

FDR’s Very Happy Hour is an immersive happy hour experience that brings Franklin Delano Roosevelt back from the “great beyond” with cocktails/mocktails, interactive activities, and personal reflections of success and missteps of a world leader who lived with disability.
Inspired by Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s real-life habit of hosting cocktail hour nearly every day at the White House to connect and unwind during challenging times, FDR’s Very Happy Hour is an immersive happy hour experience that mixes humor and history.
Alongside cocktails, mocktails, and soft drinks (it is a happy hour, after all), the evening features game-show trivia, cozy activities to get the room talking, a different “changemaker” from the local community at every performance, and the occasional surprise guest.
As FDR invites us to ponder life, a complicated legacy, and the pursuit of community, strangers become friends—and perhaps, together, we can find ways to talk with our neighbors again.
This engaging production invites audiences to reflect on the challenges and possibilities of their own lives, and learn about what others are doing within their community.
“Launching the tour of FDR’s Very Happy Hour in Denver is incredibly meaningful. This production invites audiences to step into history in a way that is personal, immediate, and deeply human, but just as importantly, it reflects our commitment to making theatre more accessible,” says Linton.
“Beginning our tour in Denver allows us to celebrate not only the power of theatre, but the power of creating spaces where everyone can belong.”
