Come one, come all to the first-ever Denver Bake Fest! This inaugural festival and friendly baking competition celebrates Denver home bakers and Rebel Bread’s 5th birthday. On Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 10 a.m. to noon, the courtyard outside of Rebel Bread’s Production Lab will be filled with amateur bakers, bakery lovers and all kinds of baked goods just waiting to be tasted.
Rebel Bread is an artisan, mostly-wholesale bakery based in Denver. They specialize in artisan loaves and coffee shop-style pastries, and love baking things that are “just different enough” – perhaps new flavors or styles of baked goods than you’re used to seeing.
Do I need a ticket to attend?
Nope! This is a free event to attend, but you will need to purchase tasting tickets if you would like to sample the baked goods.
How many baked goods can I taste?
Tasting tickets are 1 for $5, 3 for $10 or 5 for $15. You can buy them online or at the gate.
Each ticket can be redeemed for 1 tasting sample, and you can buy as many as you’d like. Bakers are asked to make each sample to be a small serving (bigger than just a taste – like a full cookie or small slice of cake).
Tasting tickets are available online and in-person at the event. Please note that a ticket does NOT guarantee you will receive a baked good. Make sure to arrive early enough for the best selection of baked goods.
Guests are also asked to vote in the Peoples’ Choice Award.
Where do I park?
Free parking is available on-site. The event takes place in a parking lot, and there’s plenty of parking surrounding the event. The event is also a short walk from the Alameda RTD Light Rail Station.
Can I enter the competition?
Home bakers are invited to enter baked goods into various categories — contest entries close on Sunday, October 1, at 11:59 p.m., or whenever max capacity is reached. There will be a Judges’ Winner in each category, and three People’s Choice Awards for the entire event.
Denver Bake Fest Categories:
Bread – All kinds of bread in any shape or size. Yeasted, naturally-leavened, whole grain, braided, gluten-free, etc. are all fair game!
Cake – Traditional and innovative recipes are welcome. The goal is to showcase the wide variety of the world of cake.
Pie – Any kind of crust works, and hand pies are great, too. Savory, sweet or a combination of both!
Chocolate Chip Cookie – A technical category looking for the ultimate (but classic) chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Bakers’ Choice – A “wildcard” category meant to show off the most inventive and unique baking creations.
Kids (12 and under) – A chance to support and encourage our youngest bakers. Kids can enter one baked good from any category.
