The annual Denver Oktoberfest is so large it spans two weekends. This salute to Bavarian heritage features authentic German beer and fare, crafts, music, dance, oom-pah-pah entertainment and more. It runs in the Ballpark Neighborhood Friday and Saturday, September 16 to 18 and September 23 to 25. The BIG news for 2022 — Entry is FREE with no ticket required.
Among the highlights: the stein hoisting event (both weekends) challenges locals to see who can hold up two full 1.5 liter steins of beer for the longest period of time.
Keg bowling is self-explanatory as is the costume contest. And, of course, the popular Long Dog Derby allows wiener dogs (dachshunds) to show of their racing skills.
Among the food choices — bratwurst, turkey legs, sausage, sauerkraut, potato salad, warm pretzels, and more.
Festival hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
The Ballpark Neighborhood encompasses Larimer Street from 20th to 22nd in downtown Denver. Prosit!
