Take A Walking Tour Of Downtown Denver

POSTED BY
Laura

denver_walking_toursA host of cities worldwide have walking tours of their city core and most popular neighborhoods. The Mile High City is no different, with Denver Walking Tours helping locals and visitors explore Denver’s sights, landmarks and the great stories and history behind them. Now through October 31, you can join a FREE walking tour every day (except July 4) at 10 a.m.

The 2 to 2.5 hour tours start on the front steps of the Colorado State Capitol and wind through downtown past many of Denver’s distinctive landmarks (including Civic Center Park, the Denver Public Library, Larimer Square, the Denver Art Museum and U.S. Mint), ending at Union Station. That’s about a 1.7 mile route.

Guides introduce residents and visitors to the art, culture, history and architecture that make Denver unique. Tours are geared to both adults and children, so the entire family can participate. They are wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Denver Walking Tours operates on a “pay-what-you-wish” gratuity model. So tipping your guide is encouraged if you have a great experience.

NOTE: After testing a reservation system last season, the company has decided to use it again this year. This helps ensure optimal group size and allows for extra tours to be added when demand is high.

Reservations are required! You can book your tour on its website. Click on the orange “Book Now” button. The third-party booking system has a $2 per guest booking fee.

Guests who sign-up in advance receive tons of helpful info from the tour team via email and/or text and their guide texts them their cell phone number the morning of the tour so if the guest is running late, can’t locate the group, etc. they have a direct line of communication.

Guides will accept walk-ups when space allows, but you really take your chances in doing so.
