Mark your calendars! It’s an ocean of deals at the Fall Whale of a Used Book Sale sponsored by the Jefferson County Library Foundation. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, October 20 & 21, 2023, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 22. Held in the massive exhibit hall of the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, the sale boasts more than 95,000 books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, audiobooks and more.
Shoppers will find books (adult hardback and paperback, all genres, fiction and non-fiction), collectible and antique books and ephemera, children’s and teen/tween hardbacks and paperbacks, music CDs, DVDs, magazines, maps, comic books, graphic novels, puzzles and LPs.
Admission is $5 and good all-day. You can buy tickets in advance here.
Prices run from 50¢ to $3 on most items. Rare and collectible books cost a bit more, but are still a deal.
On Saturday, Friends of JCPL members, Jeffco Employees and Teachers with ID get 50% off all items, except the rare and collectibles.
As always, Sunday is “Bag Day” when $10 buys you as many items as will fit into a grocery-size bag or fill a box for $12. Be eco-friendly and bring your own bags and boxes!
Eager shoppers can beat the crowds on Friday with early admission at 8 a.m. for $10.
There’s also a Free Preview Night for JCLF Members ONLY on Thursday, October 19 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memberships are available for purchase at the door.
FALL FAMILY FUN DAY BONUS FUN!
In Cooperation with CSU Extension and 4-H, you can take part on Sunday, October 22 for Trunk or Treat and 4-H Open House from noon to 4:30 p.m. in the CSU Extension Fairgrounds parking lot.
Trunk or Treat allows children with their families to dress up in their Halloween costumes and collect candy in one safe location. There will be candy, a costume contest, prizes and a bouncy castle.
4-H is a family-centric youth organization centered around hands-on projects, life skills, and more.
