Buffalo Bill Birthday Bash

POSTED BY
Bryan

Howdy, partner! Celebrate the birthday of one of America’s greatest legends, William “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Who is Buffalo Bill? William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody was born in LeClaire, Iowa in 1846. While he was still a child, his family moved to Leavenworth, Kansas. Cody left home at the young age of 11 to herd cattle and work as a driver on a wagon train, crossing the Great Plains several times. He went on to fur trapping and gold mining, then joined the Pony Express in 1860.

After the Civil War, Cody scouted for the Army and gained the nickname “Buffalo Bill” as a hunter. Cody’s life in the West offered the stuff from which legends were made and he soon was popularized in newspaper accounts and dime novels.

In the grand tradition of parties, the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave (987 1/2 Lookout Mountain Rd.) in Golden will host the annual Buffalo Bill Birthday Bash on Sunday, March 1 — with special activities from noon to 4 p.m. Sing Happy Birthday, eat cake, make crafts and maybe even learn a thing or two on this very festive day.

At high noon, sing Happy Birthday and enjoy free cake & ice cream (while supplies last) at the Pahaska Tepee Gift Shop and Café.

Museum admission is also FREE, which is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
