Douglas County Fair & Rodeo

POSTED BY
Laura

Do you remember a time when the best of summer included the excitement, food and fun of your hometown County Fair and Rodeo? This year, recreate the good times at the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo from July 29 to August 7 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock. (Monday & Tuesday, August 1 & 2 are filled with 4H-type events.)

More than 75 entries, including floats, bands, royalty and marchers fill the Fair Parade on Saturday, July 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Downtown Castle Rock. The Fair Parade, which originated in 1954 and has long since become a staple of the summer’s liveliest weekend.

Over 10 days, fairgoers can enjoy carnival rides, live music, car show, classic fair food and more.

Invite your children to become a farmer for a day at Discovery Ranch and learn where eggs, apples, potatoes and much more are grown.

Sign up for the fun-filled pie-eating contest, stick horse rodeo or blind man tractor drive. Everyone will also enjoy Axe Women Loggers of Maine, Hillia Hula Hoop Extraordinaire, Top Hogs and other wonderful performers.

Don’t miss Family Day on Sunday, August 7, when admission and a pancake breakfast are both FREE thanks to the generosity of Fair and Rodeo sponsor, CORE Electric Cooperative.

The Douglas County Fair and Rodeo is a more than 100-year-old family tradition with plenty to entertain the whole family including two entertainment stages, live music, several PRCA Rodeos, a carnival, 4-H and FFA exhibits, the Junior Livestock Sale and much more.
