There’s no better way to celebrate Earth Day than planting a tree. And The Park People makes it easy and affordable (50% to 60% off) at its annual Denver Digs Trees Earth Day Tree Sale on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from noon to 2 p.m. at Sloan’s Lake Park and City Park Greenhouse. Anyone is welcome, even if you live outside Denver.
Shade, flowering, and fruit trees that would normally cost between $150 and $250 can be purchased at 50% to 60% discounts, near-wholesale prices. So, expect to pay from $50 to $80, depending on size and type of tree.
Cash, check and charge card are accepted.
The Park People works with local nurseries and experts, including Denver’s Office of the City Forester, to select varieties that will perform well in Denver’s climate.
Varieties include: Sweet Sixteen Apple, Cleveland Select Flowering Pear, Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry, Contender Peach (subject to availability), Northstar Cherry, Toka Plum, Spring Snow Crabapple, and limited quantities of unclaimed trees from the Denver Digs Trees distribution.
Anyone can purchase and plant these carefully selected trees in their yards—including people living outside Denver and non-Denver residents.
All sale trees must be planted on private property (not in the public right-of-way). Planting along the street requires a site inspection and issuance of a City permit in advance.
Your purchase also supports the costs of the hundreds of trees The Park People distributes predominantly to residents of low-canopy, low-income neighborhoods each year through the Denver Digs Trees program.
Through the Denver Digs Trees program, The Park People has added more than 65,000 trees to Denver’s urban forest over the past 41 years.
