Whether you’re a local theater lover or tourist visiting the Mile High City, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts has the perfect behind-the-scenes experience for all to enjoy. If you’ve ever wondered about the history of the DCPA or exactly how the magic comes to life on stage, there are two tours available — Venues Tour and Studio Tour.
Venues Tour
Enjoy an in-depth look at the Denver Performing Arts Complex venues, including the newly renovated Bonfils Theatre Complex.
During the 90-minute guided tour, attendees will experience the following:
Learn about the creation of the Arts Complex and its resident companies.
Discover public art pieces throughout the Arts Complex and their origins.
Walk the ins and outs of the many unique performance spaces throughout the Complex.
Take a peek at Actor’s Alley, filled with murals of Broadway posters signed by touring cast members.
Experience updates to patron accessibility and technology in the Bonfils Theatre Complex.
The Venues Tour takes place on Mondays at 10 a.m.
Studio Tour
During the 90-minute guided tour, discover the people and processes that bring theatre to life. Learn more about the talent of costume designers, set builders, propmakers and technical specialists needed to transform a show from concept to the magic you see on stage.
In addition to an overview of the Complex and the venues, the Studio Tour offers attendees an insider’s look at everything from set model miniatures and costumes-in-progress to up-close set pieces and props in the production shops of the DCPA.
The Studio Tour takes place on Saturdays at 10 a.m.
Tickets are $12 per person for each tour and must be reserved online in advance.
