The Colorado State University Spur campus at the National Western Complex comes alive every second Saturday of the month for a day full of FREE interactive, hands-on activities that the whole family can enjoy. The next 2nd Saturday at Spur is Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This month’s theme is “Dog Days of Summer,” and visitors will have the chance to interact with scientists from CSU and partner organizations while learning about canines, insects, trees, plants, telescopes and more.
Here’s a sampling of what visitors can expect to see this 2nd Saturday at Spur:
- Members of CAM’s Ag Academy will share the “pawsitive impacts” of dogs, and how these amazing animals are used in everything from agriculture to disease detection.
- Digital microscopes and specimen samples including dust, pollen and other natural parts of the aerobiome.
- Bird observation in the outdoor space overlooking the Platte River.
- Veterinarians performing live surgery on dogs and cats in the Denver Dumb Friends League Veterinary Hospital.
- Virtual reality demonstrations on the first floor of the Vida Building.
