Shop Easter Clearance for Big Savings on Decorations, Candy and More

POSTED BY

Bargain hunters know that one of the best times for deals are the days immediately following a major holiday. And Easter is no exception. Now’s the time to start shopping for discounts on Easter decorations, baskets, toys and candy. The objective is to start preparing for next Easter at bargain prices.

If you have the space, you can store baskets, decorations and toys for Easter 2026.

Plus, many items just have spring look — no Easter bunnies or eggs to be found anywhere. Therefore, you could still even use them now to spruce up your home or office for the season.

We’ve spotted dish towels, throw pillows and dishes that could easily be used all spring long.

And, as for all the candy, use it for your home or office candy dish.

You could even repurpose some of the candy for a Mother’s Day celebration or gift…or chop it up and use it in a dessert or cookie recipe. (No one will ever know the chocolate bits used to be a bunny!)

The best places for clearance are Target, Walgreens and Walmart, as well as grocery stores.

Clearance usually starts at 50% off, eventually reaching 75% off and finally 90% off. (Sometimes, holiday candy starts at 30%, depending on the retailer.) You can also find deals on lots of holiday decorations at Michaels and Hobby Lobby.

For savvy shoppers, the biggest question is the timeline as to when the clearance prices drop. The initial clearance of 50% off usually runs for about three to five days, before hitting 75% off.

From there, it’s anyone’s guess as to when the holiday merchandise hits the bargain hunter’s jackpot of 90% off.

It could be another few days or a week or more. However, the shelves are typically all cleared within 10 to 14 days. It all depends on the store.

For the best results, you have to check in with the store every day — either stop by or call for a price check.

The shelves really start getting cleared out at 75% off. That’s the golden spot for many bargain hunters and the time to really stock up.

At 90% off, you won’t find much on the shelves — usually just a few decorations and lots of plastic grass! However, if you hit the store at the right moment, you can find a few treasures at 90% off.

MHOTC Tip: Always look for holiday merchandise that’s been put back in the wrong department.

With a little snooping, you can occasionally find seasonal decorations, home goods and especially candy in the regular department or different area — not the seasonal aisle or section.

This is extremely helpful, especially when the clearance hits 75% or 90% off.

What’s your tip for shopping holiday clearance?
