Earn Membership Fee and Bonus $11 Back! Save 50% on Safeway’s Fresh Pass Subscription for Savings All Year Long

POSTED BY

It seems every store now has a premium tier for their loyalty program. However, there is always a monthly or annual subscription fee to join. The key is to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth in benefits — before signing up. For Safeway, they offer a premium Fresh Pass subscription for shoppers. And the value is even better now, thanks to this limited-time subscription deal.

Through December 9, 2025, Safeway is offering an annual Fresh Pass subscription for just $49 for the first year of membership — regularly $99. That’s a savings of 50%! (NOTE: The offer only applies to new members.)

Now’s the time to sign-up because you’ll be earning a money-back bonus in the end. How? Well, every month, as part of the subscription, Safeway gives members a $5 credit to use toward their grocery purchases.

And, if you do the math, $5 x 12 months = $60 back. So, not only will you be earning your membership fee back ($49), you will also come out ahead $11 in the end. Consider the $49 membership fee like “paying” for some of your groceries upfront.

In addition to the $5 monthly credit for annual subscribers, members enjoy many other exclusive perks — including a monthly Starbucks deal.

Note: The discount only applies to an annual Fresh Pass subscription — not the month-to-month subscription.

Fresh Pass members enjoy the following benefits:

$5 monthly credit for annual subscribers

Monthly exclusive Starbucks perks*

Unlimited FREE delivery on orders more than $30

Earn 2x points on Safeway’s exclusive brands

Save 5% on O Organics and Open Nature products

Save 5% on Signature Pet Care products

Reward points never expire

Exclusive offers and discounts from Safeway’s partners

VIP Phone Line for customer service

*The monthly Starbucks deal varies by month, but often includes $3 off any Starbucks grocery product. (The discount does not apply to the in-store Starbucks cafĂ©.)

Bargain hunters always know to do the math first and, in this case, the discounted membership fee is definitely worth the price — namely because you get it all back in the end (plus a little more).

And, if you consider the savings at every month at Starbucks, you definitely come out ahead financially. Those two perks ($5 credit and Starbucks discount) by themselves are worth the discounted annual fee upfront. All of the other benefits are just the cherry on top!

MHOTC Tip: When you sign-up, you are agreeing to Safeway’s auto-renew terms. Meaning that, at the end of your annual subscription, you be charged the full amount of $99 for the following year. No problem, just be sure to call customer service and have the auto-renew removed from your account or simply cancel a few weeks before your membership is scheduled to renew. You might consider adding a reminder in your smartphone or making a notation in your calendar when it’s time to cancel.

As always, be sure to review the program closely before signing up. Be sure it’s a good value for you and your budget!

I’m sad they changed the Starbucks monthly reward recently. Use to be (for years!) you’d get a $2 Grande ANY drink each month. NOW, it’s $2 or $3 off a $15 dollar or more Starbucks products purchase in store (not at the Cafe kiosk). I loved the treat every month of a Frappacino (sp?). The dollars off products in store is useless to me. I buy SAFEWAY’s coffee – much cheaper and they have DECAF Hazelnut coffee!

Otherwise, though, the Fresh Pass program is GREAT! I find it vastly superior to Kings BOOST premium membership.
