Thornton’s McAllister Park Center is site for the community’s Dia de los Muertos celebration (Day of the Dead) on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from noon to 5 p.m. The FREE event features an artisan market, face painting, live entertainment, family activities, Mexican food trucks and a decorative altar.

This family-friendly event honors the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos, a joyful celebration to remember and honor loved ones who have passed, through art, music, food, and cultural traditions. The event will feature:
Live entertainment: new music and dance performances on the main stage plus a low-rider car show on the field
Family activities: Face-painting, arts and crafts tables, storytelling, selfie booth, and AnyThink Library book table
Cultural highlights: A community ancestor altar (or ofrenda) to share memories of loved ones, such as photos of people and pets
Food and shopping: A variety of Mexican food trucks and an expanded artisan market featuring items for the holiday
Public Art: Returning this year, Colorado artist Cal Duran will present a Día de los Muertos exhibit exploring his indigenous heritage through clay and sculptures.
Don’t forget to bring your ancestor picture for the ofrenda!
