Fun Carnival at Whole Foods Market Governor’s Ranch

KIdsFunThe entire family will have a grand time at the Whole Kids Foundation Carnival on Saturday, August 26 at Whole Foods Market Governor’s Ranch. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a bounce house, face painting, games, grilled eats and more. Historic Elitch Theatre Hosts Blissfest333

The Historic Elitch Theatre continues its renovation and revitalization movement with Blissfest333, a Cultural Revival on Saturday, August 26. Starting at noon. visitors can enjoy a Kid’s Zone in the old carousel shell that will be filled with entertainment, art activities, and interactive storytelling theater along with zendoodling pinwheels for peace station. The main lawn in front of the theatre will be the artisan plaza showcasing a juried art show. Live music and entertainment will run all day long beside the beer garden and food truck zone. All daytime activities are FREE and run until 6 p.m. Then the action moves inside for a fundraising concert (tickets start at $35) with Hazel Miller, Chris Daniels and the Kings and FACE. 4655 W. 37th Ave., Denver.

Peaches Plus Garageless Garage Sale in Boulder

Boulder’s Fairview High School has no garage, but Garage & Peach Sale is what the school calls the annual fundraiser for its concert, jazz and marching bands. There are fresh peaches, of course, plus a bake sale of yummies. The garage sale part includes bikes, books, clothing and furniture. It takes place Saturday, August 26 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. To get a jump on the crowd, early-bird entry starting a 7 a.m. costs $5. 1515 Greenbriar Blvd., Boulder.

The higher one-day discount at Dillard’s is on handbags, jewelry, watches, ladies’ accessories, lingerie, men’s apparel and home goods. Sign Up Now for Kids’ Fishing Evening

“Fishing Fun for Kids” is a FREE, wheelchair-accessible program on Thursday, August 31 (5 to 7 p.m.) that explores fishing techniques, equipment to use and places to go on Boulder Open Space lands to catch bass, sunfish, bluegill and carp. Limited equipment provided, but BYO is encouraged, because kids do have a better time if equipment is sized for them. Accompanying adults youngsters must have a valid Colorado fishing license. Marvel Studios Week at Cinemark — $5 Tickets & Concession Specials

Fly into Cinemark Theatres for super fun, especially if you need to catch up on superhero flicks or just want to experience the action on the big screen again. From Friday, August 25 to Thursday, August 31, the theater chain is hosting Marvel Studios Week — showing 11 of the studio’s biggest superhero flicks on its XD screen, including Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. (XD auditoriums have the chain’s largest wall-to-wall screen with a state-of-the-art projector capable of 35 trillion colors. Plus, custom surround sound with more speakers.) Even better, you don’t need super powers to save money, tickets are just $5 each per film. The films play Friday through Wednesday at 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The participating theatres in Colorado are Century Aurora & XD (Aurora), Cinemark Tinseltown USA & XD (Colorado Springs), Cinemark (Fort Collins) and Century 16 Bel Mar & XD (Lakewood.) Plus, attendees get super concession specials — large fountain drinks, Dibs ice cream, packaged candy, hot dogs and Dasani bottled water (20-oz.) are just $2 each; and a large popcorn and large ICEE are $3 each.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women. That’s why the American Heart Association wants all women to come to its Breakfast in Red. This FREE educational event on Tuesday, August 29 includes a FREE breakfast, a program with educational speakers and resources along with a heart healthy expo for women to learn more about their greatest health threat, heart disease and stroke. Community Safety Fair in Jefferson County

Safety tools, tips and services for the entire family are available at the Jefferson County Safety Fair on Saturday, August 26. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be more than 80 booths with demonstrations, giveaways and information. Among the FREEBIES: shred documents (up to 5 boxes), safely dump all your outdated prescriptions, run your credit report and have it reviewed by bank officers, receive a FREE 911 cell phone for seniors, FREE helmets for kids who participate in a bicycle rodeo and much more. Kids Eat Free at Bombay Clay Oven For The Week

Bombay Clay Oven (165 Steele St.) in Denver is inviting families to get back into the swing of things with its Back-to-School special — Back to Bombay. From Monday, August 21 to Sunday, August 27, kids eat FREE with the purchase of an adult entrée for dinner and dine-in only. The local Indian restaurant offers two kids’ meals for $6.99 every day: The Jasmine Combo (tandoori chicken drumsticks, basmati rice, naan, homemade potato chips and assorted fruit and the Aladdin Combo (chicken tikka masala, rice, naan, homemade potato chips and assorted fruit.)
