Kids can kick off Thanksgiving break at the Erie Community Library on Monday, November 20 at 1 p.m. The library will screen “Robin Hood” and then kiddos will make a fun craft to take home. We recently reminded you that on Veterans Day, the National Park Service annually waives entry fees to all 400+ units that normally charge them. But, did you know veterans, active-duty military personnel, Reserve and National Guard members also get FREE admission to all 42 Colorado state parks on Veterans Day, November 11. The military member or veteran must show proof of military service (photo ID, DD-214, be in uniform, etc.). All other park fees (camping, etc.) are still charged.

Two kids clothing swaps are scheduled for the coming weeks. The Evergreen Kids Clothes Swap is Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at Bergen Park Church. The Lakewood Kids Clothes Swap is Sunday, November 12 from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lakewood Link Rec Center. Here’s how it works. Bring gently used kids clothing (size 0-16), kids shoes, maternity clothes and equipment, baby items and equipment the night before the swap. For Evergreen that’s Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and for Lakewood it is Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Peterson Room.

Earlier this month, the Denver Theatre District officially opened Understudy, a first-of-its-kind arts and culture experimental space inside the Colorado Convention Center. Artists and creative groups get to use the 700-square-foot space for free and the public gets to check out artist installations and take part in experiential activities.

The Denver Theatre District encourages taking public transportation or biking to Understudy, which is located next to the RTD “Convention center/Theatre District” Light Rail stop. Bike and B-cycle parking is available in front of the convention center off the 14th Street bike lane. Vehicle parking is available at meters, in local garages or on surface lots.

Local film studio Kingdom Sight Studios hosts a Red Carpet Premier Event on Friday, November 3 to screen its latest film A High School Story, a family-friendly production with a 1980’s John Hughes-comedy feel. The movie will be shown in the Worship Center at Faith Bible Chapel at 6250 Wright St., Arvada.

Doors open at 5:15 p.m., with light hors d’oeuvres along with photo opportunities on the Red Carpet. Doors to the theater for general seating open at 6:15 p.m. and the film starts at 7 p.m., followed by dessert and a meet-and-greet with the actors.
