Kids Can Earn A Free Book Through Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program

POSTED BY
Laura

Kids in grades 1 to 6 can earn a FREE book through the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program. It’s super easy to participate. All they have to do is pick up a Summer Reading Journal at their nearest Barnes & Noble bookstore, read any eight books (from the library, a friend, thrift shop — you don’t have to buy them from B&N) and stop by the store for Journal stickers throughout the summer.

The Journal is set up like a championship playoff with first round, quarterfinals, semi finals and championship rounds. The eight books go head to head through each round until there’s a winner — “My Favorite Book of the Summer.”

Each time the reader completes two books (one matchup on the journal), you bring the journal to your local B&N store.

You’ll receive an exclusive Summer Reading sticker and create a recommendation slip for your favorite of the two books. Your recommendation slip will be displayed in the store.

Return to the store after each completed matchup for another sticker and the chance to see what other kids are recommending.

After completing all four matchups, bring the completed Journal back for a special Barnes & Noble Champion sticker.

Then, select a book from the Summer Reading Program list — there are a ton of choices — and it is yours for FREE.

The program officially ends on August 31, 2026.
