2nd Saturday at CSU Spur on May 10: Family-Friendly Interactive Hands-On Fun

POSTED BY
Laura

The Colorado State University Spur campus at the National Western Complex comes alive every second Saturday of the month for a day full of FREE interactive, hands-on activities that the whole family can enjoy. The next 2nd Saturday at Spur is Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This month’s theme is “Mother’s Day,” and visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a host of interactive activities throughout the day.

Celebrate Mom a day before the actual Mother’s Day holiday with a host of fun activities, including mini bouquet making, taste-testing food in the Terra test kitchen and the opportunity to learn about pollinators and take family photos on Hydro’s rooftop gardens.

Here’s a sampling of what visitors can expect to see this 2nd Saturday at Spur:

  • A youth mariachi group that will bring down the house inside the Hydro theater.
  • The CSU Spur Music Lab will host open mics as well as give visitors a chance to play a variety of instruments and even conduct a mock podcast interview in the recording studio.
  • Learn about various diseases and see them under a microphone at the Plant Diagnostic Lab.
  • Visit the Temple Grandin Equine Center and discover the benefits of equine-assisted therapy and human-animal interaction.
  • A stream table showing the power of water and erosion.
  • Veterinarians performing live surgery on dogs and cats in the Denver Dumb Friends League Veterinary Hospital.
  • Virtual reality demonstrations on the Vida Building’s first floor.
  • An equine sports medicine demonstration, featuring underwater treadmills.
