The 16th Street Mall opened all the way back in 1982. And exactly 43 years later the pedestrian area will officially reopen (and be rebranded as 16th Street) on October 4, 2025, after being under construction for the last three years at a cost of $175 million. Expect lots of festive family fun at the grand opening celebration. There is also a scavenger hunt with lots of great prizes from REI!

All Denverites and Coloradoans are welcome to be part of the momentous occasion in the Mile High City’s history.
On October 4, 2025, join Denver for an all day celebration including live music, custom merch, giveaways, a scavenger hunt and so much more, as the newly completed 16th Street is finally revealed to the public.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is FREE. However, attendees are encourage to RSVP here.
Scavenger Hunt
As part of the grand opening celebration, sixteen (16) golden tickets will be hidden around the 16th Street Mall. Each one unlocks an incredible REI prize, including tents, backpacks, chairs and more.
Those lucky enough to find a golden ticket will go home with a great prize!
