Those of us who have visited Wings Over The Rockies already know that Denver has an extraordinary facility devoted to the heritage of aerospace and space travel. After all, it’s not every attraction that welcomes you with a B-52 bomber parked on the front lawn. Now Wings has a second facility, Exploration of Flight, located at Centennial Airport.
Phase one of the new Exploration of Flight campus is the Boeing Blue Sky Aviation Gallery, an awesome aerospace attraction. It provides a behind-the-scenes experience that is sure to have you looking to the heavens.
You can check it out this weekend during a Grand Opening, Saturday & Sunday, July 21 & 22 from noon to 5 p.m. at a fraction of the normal admission rate.
Here’s a great video showing you a sneak peek of the facility.
Among the Grand Opening activities:
Explore immersive aviation experiences & exhibits
Tour Centennial Airport
Check out modern aircraft
Watch airplanes take off and land at one of the busiest general aviation airports in the country
Listen to chatter from Centennial tower
Play with some of the latest tech in the aviation industry
Enjoy realistic flight simulators (first come, first served)
Test your skills at carnival games
Interact with vendors
Listen to music
Grab lunch at a food truck
Simulator slots, tours of Centennial Airport and flights with Aspen Flying Club (for which an extra fee applies) are limited and will be first come, first served.
Normally, Exploration of Flight adult admission is $12, but for the grand opening it’s only $5, youth (ages 4 to 16) cost $3 and Wings Over The Rockies members are FREE.
This is a rain or shine event. Upon arrival at the Boeing Blue Sky Aviation Gallery, you will be directed to offsite parking by attendants. Shuttles will run to and from designated parking areas.
