The Westernaires will bring its Full Arena Extravaganza to the Boulder County Fairgrounds on Sunday, August 16, 2026, for a large-scale equestrian production unlike a traditional rodeo or horse show. The two-hour production, which starts at 2 p.m., features two hours of precision mounted drill riding at speed, world-class trick riding, Roman riding, horse acrobatics, trick and fancy roping, liberty riding, colorful costumes, flags, music, and other specialty performances.

The show brings together the entire performance division of Westernaires for an afternoon designed to entertain spectators of all ages.
Unlike a competitive rodeo or conventional horse show, the Westernaires production is a fast-moving theatrical presentation built around coordinated teams and specialty acts.
Riders must work together with accuracy and confidence while controlling their horses through complex formations and maneuvers—often performed at considerable speed.
The event was originally scheduled to take place in Evergreen but was relocated after storm damage made the original arena unavailable.
Rather than cancel the performance, Westernaires moved the entire production to the Boulder County Fairgrounds, where covered grandstands will provide spectators with shade and protection from elements while preserving the excitement of an outdoor arena show.
Behind the spectacle is a longstanding youth-development mission.
Since 1949, Westernaires has developed young people of character through horsemanship and family participation, fostering self-respect, responsibility, teamwork, and leadership while carrying forward the best traditions of the West.
The volunteer-run nonprofit organization serves more than 1,000 young people between the ages of 9 and 19. Around 350 of those riders will be performing in this show.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 through 14. Children age 4 and younger are admitted free.
Spectators are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance and arrive early for general-admission seating.
Tickets may also be purchased at the event, subject to availability.
Westernaires charges no online ticketing fees, and parking at the fairgrounds is free.
Concessions will also be available during the event.
