Does it bug you when you spot graffiti around town — not the artistic kind — but the kind that defaces signs and buildings? Now’s your chance to do something about it. Join the 9th annual Graffiti “Brush Off” & Litter Cleanup on Saturday, September 15 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Be a part the LARGEST effort to combat graffiti vandalism of the year! Denver Partners Against Graffiti is looking for participants of all ages to help paint out graffiti vandalism and pick up litter along stretches of East Colfax Ave. Denver Public Works provides all the cleaning supplies, you bring the elbow grease.
It’s a great opportunity for individuals, families, groups and businesses to come join a team! We promise you’ll feel good about giving back to the community. You still have time to put together a Graffiti Bustin’ team — register today!
This is a wonderful way to teach youngsters (children five and older are welcome) about volunteerism, team work and keeping the city they call home looking nice. C’mon, they get to use spray paint, scrubbers and trash grabbers, with no one scolding, “Put that down!”
What’s the payoff?
Civic pride and making new friends, volunteers receive a FREE lunch and are eligible for prizes, such as gift cards, from local businesses. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. at East High School, where teams will be assigned a specific area on East Colfax to spruce up.
After some basic training — hey, those trash pickers can be tricky — it’s off to scrub and paint. Everyone circles back to the school around 11:30 a.m. for lunch and the prize raffle!
Want to give graffiti the “Brush Off” and have some fun? Register online here or by calling 720-913-1311. No pets, please!
East High School is located at 1600 City Park Esplanade in Denver. FREE parking is available around the school. Volunteers will meet at Colfax & Detroit St.
