If you want to get up close and personal with the National Western Stock Show’s 2022 Grand Champion steer, mosey on over to The Brown Palace Hotel (312 17th St.) in Denver on Friday, January 21. The prized animal, adorned with a garland of roses, will be escorted down a red carpet at 11 a.m. to take center stage during afternoon tea in the famed lobby. (The steer takes his tea from a sterling silver punch bowl. Two sugars, please!)
This is the last hurrah before heading to the auction of champions later in the evening. The public is welcome to witness the champ’s beauty up close from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There are special protocols in place for 2022. You can still attend the event for FREE, but must register online in advance. Sign up here.
Tickets are complimentary but also more limited than in years past.
Registering does not guarantee a photo will be taken with the steer.
Attendees are allowed (one) personal photo with the Grand Champion. Bring your smartphone or camera.
One you finish your photo, you will be asked to mosey along, so the lobby remains as uncrowded as possible.
No petting the steer.
Masks are required for all and they can only remove during the actual photo being taken with the Steer.
