Paramount Pictures Streams ‘Selma’ For Free in June

POSTED BY
Bryan

Paramount Pictures is making its film Selma widely available for streaming at no cost. According to the studio, “We hope this small gesture will encourage people throughout the country to examine our nation’s history and reflect on the ways that racial injustice has infected our society. The key message of the film is the importance of equality, dignity and justice for all people. Clearly, that message is as vital today as it was in 1965.” For the remainder of June, the film will be available to rent for FREE on digital platforms in the U.S.

The film chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition.

The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement.

The critically-acclaimed film was directed by Ava DuVernay and originally released in 2014.

You can now rent the movie at no cost on most major digital platforms in the U.S., including Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube, FandangoNOW, Redbox and Google Play.
